Advanced Design for Surface Mount Technology
The Australian Microelectronics Centre
in conjunction with In-Circuit Design Pty Ltd is holding the “Right First Time
Design” surface mount technology design seminar at Brisbane Technology Park on
the 26th and 27th of July 2006.
The two-day workshop presents generic
design rules for dense, double-sided SMT design of multi-layer PCBs. It also
covers generic SMT design rules, including a land pattern update for the
IPC-7351 standard released in March 2005. The seminar covers designing for
manufacturability, CAD testability implementation issues, CAD QA to meet AS/NZS
ISO 9001, and manufacturing data requirements accepted by US board
manufacturers. It also covers generic multilayer PCB specifications for mixed
technology boards, EMI reduction techniques for high-speed designs, interactive
placement and routing techniques for dense SMT/BGA designs, and SMT standards.
The course material is non
application-specific and the presenter has experience with many different CAD
systems. While it is most suited to design personnel who are designing surface
mount boards with more than four layers at high clock speeds the principles can
be applied to less complex assemblies of mixed technology.
The seminar is aimed at design engineers, PCB designers, project leaders and QA
supervisors.
